1st & 2nd Gen camera recording settings (NCIP9WF, NCIP2WF, NCIP9, NCIP2, GFIP220BWF)

This guide will show you how to configure the recording settings for your WiFi Bird Box camera, whether you want to use continuous recording or have it only recording when it picks up motion in front of the camera. It will cover the process for smartphones and tablets as well as for PC users.

Before You Begin

Connect your camera to your WiFi network. If you have not done so please click here if you wish to configure it using a phone or tablet and here if you wish to do so using a computer.
Make sure you have an SD card no larger than 128GB inserted in your camera. If you have not done so already disconnect your camera from the power, insert the card and plug it back in.
If you want to receive notifications via iCSee Pro on a phone/tablet, make sure you are logged in using an account rather than Local Login, and add the camera to that account.

Let's Get Started

This guide will cover a few different methods, we will have configuring through the ICSee Pro app on both Android and IOS devices and through CMS5 on a computer. Please skip to the section that is relevant for your chosen method.

ICSee Pro on Android

Unfortunately one of the limitations of the app is that not all Android devices can be used to configure motion recording. If on the main menu you see an option for Alarm Setting then please follow the relevant section of the iPhone/iPad guide to configure the motion recording, if you do not see that menu option then you will only be able to set continuous recording as detailed below.

To begin, open the ICSee Pro app and load your cameras live feed. Then click the cog icon in the top right corner to open the settings menu.

First thing we will do here is check that the SD card is being detected. Go to Storage Management and check that the Storage Capacity is not showing a value of zero. If it is then unplug the camera from the power, remove the SD card and connect it to a computer, format it and then re-insert in to the camera before checking the Storage Management page again. If your card is being detected you should see a page like the image below.

On the same menu we can change how the camera behaves when it runs out of storage space. If you set the camera to Stop Record then when the SD card is full the camera will stop recording and you will have to manually clear space on that card. We therefore recommend using Overwrite which means that when the card is full it starts to record over the oldest saved footage.

Now return to the Main Menu and go to Advanced Setting.

Most of the options on this page are rather self explanatory, Record & Audio are either on or off and clearly set whether the camera is recording at all and whether it is saving audio at the same time. Record Quality controls the quality of the image. Higher quality settings will look better but will fill the SD card quicker. The two settings that require a bit of explanation are:

Pack Duration - This is the maximum length a recording can be before it splits it in to a new file. So if you have it set to 5 minutes as above the camera will create a new file every 5 minutes. This is mostly relevant when you're sharing footage from the camera as per this guide. The longer the Pack Duration the larger the files will be.

Image Enhancement - This is a bit of basic image processing that the camera undertakes, if it is enabled it attempts to make the images recorded look a bit more clear and vibrant.

ICSee Pro on iPhone or iPad

An an iOS device it is possible to set both continuous recording and for recordings to be made when motion is detected.

To begin, open ICSee Pro on your iPad or iPhone.and load your cameras live feed. From here press the cog icon in the top right corner to open your main settings menu.

Return to the main menu and go to Advanced Setting. Some of the settings on this page are quite self explanatory, switch Audio on to enable the camera to save audio in addition to video and change the Record Quality to change the quality of the recordings, higher will look better but will also fill the memory card quicker. The settings that need a bit of explanation are:

Record Switch - If you wish to set the camera to record continuously then enable this option. If you wish to set the camera to record based on motion make sure this option is disabled.

Image Enhancement - This is a bit of basic image processing that the camera undertakes, if it is enabled it attempts to make the images recorded look a bit more clear and vibrant.

If you only want continuous recording you are finished at this stage but if you wish to set motion recording then return to the main menu and proceed to Alarm Setting.

To enable motion recording you need to enable Open Alarm and then the rest of the settings are as follows:

Alarm Action - Whether you want the camera to record a video, take a photo or do both when it detects movement.

Time Interval - How long a recording it will take each time it picks up movement.

Alarm Time - Whether you want the camera looking for motion all of the time or only on a specific schedule.

Sensitivity - How responsive the camera is to motion. I would recommend leaving it on middle to begin with and adjust it up or down if you either get lots of false alarms or the camera isn't triggering easily enough.

Alarm Push - If enabled the app will send a notification to your phone or tablet every time it picks up movement.

CMS5 on a Computer

Open CMS5 and click on Device Config and select your camera from the list on the left.

Return to the Device Config screen and then go to System Config. There is only one setting on this page that we need to check which is Operation When Disk Full. If you set this to Overwrite then when the SD card is full the camera will begin to record over the oldest footage while if it is set to Stop Record the camera will stop recording until you have manually freed up space on the SD card. Press the Apply button once done.

Next we need to go back to Device Config and then the Record Config menu. On this screen we define whether the camera records continuously or only when it detects motion.

Leave the Mode on Auto and apply the following settings depending on how you want the camera set:

Continuous - For each day of the week tick the General box alongside Time Section 1. Untick the Detect & Alarm boxes.

Motion - For each day of the week tick the Detect and Alarm boxes alongside Time Section 1. Untick the General boxes.

Press Apply once you are finished.

Return to the Device Config page once again and then go to Video Detect.

Make sure that the settings on your screen are the same as in the image above. The only change that you might want to make is to the Record and Snapshot settings. These define whether the camera saves a video, takes a picture or does both when movement is detected.
